When Hans Puttnies visited the ancient city of Palmyra in Syria in 2008, intending to shoot a documentary about it and its glorification by Europeans, he had no idea that one day he would hold in his hands a unique document of its time. Not only because in 2015 ISIS destroyed the 2,000-year-old, irretrievable stone reminders of Romans, Greeks, and Persians in the city, which is already mentioned in the Old Testament. But above all because of the people whom Hans Puttnies filmed during his stay there.
